Hand Carved Bramble Berry Bowl, Earthenware Dishware

Curved sherds of earthenware to enliven your palate – this bowl features blackberry brambles, with a background of hazy summer blue sky.

Measuring, approx 17 cm across and 5 cm deep, these terra cotta earthenware picture dishware pieces bear motifs of nature, cycles, life and death. Each one is hand carved and then painted, before being inlaid with oxide washes and finally glaze fired. The theme of each motif continues to the reverse, which is textured with custom made rollers and impression tools.

The handbuilt, earthy style rejects the confines of machined symmetry, instead offering interesting visual lines, humble, organic irregularity and tactile satisfaction.
